Treatment Preparation

Before embarking on any weight loss and health improvement journey, you should be prepared both physically and emotionally/psychologically for the intervention and its outcomes. Detailed instructions will be given to you for the days before and during the intervention/therapy as well as during the subsequent consultations. This varies from medical, nutritional, physical and psychological advice and support.

The steps involved in pre-treatment preparations include:

  • Collection of your complete medical history and performing physical exams
  • Arranging other necessary investigations-on a case by case basis eg cardiac stress test; bone DEXA
  • Providing detailed information regarding the treatment (medication/procedure/operation)
  • Creating awareness of the risks involved and potential benefits associated with the proposed treatment
  • Discussing/ arranging appropriate contraception in women of childbearing age
  • Discussing the need for medical optimisation +/- pre-surgical pre-habilitation (where appropriate/applicable)
